    Your Views

We asked for your views on Saturday's game between Wolves and Brighton.

Here are some of your comments:

    Wolves fans

Murray: If we are going to play a back four, we need full-backs who can defend. This rules out Ait-Nouri and Semedo, who rarely get goal-side of the opposing wingers, are often stranded yards away, and are collectively responsible for four of the five goals conceded so far this season. This needs to be resolved quickly.

Rob: Yes, we struggled. Yes we need a good striker. But not Silva - please. He has been a total waste of money, given nothing in return for the investment, froze in front of goal and we're still in the position as last season when he was away elsewhere. Proof being, he comes off, Hwang comes on and scores. Sell Silva and cut your losses.

Steve: Bottom three again looking forward to Championship football next season. I don’t see a way forward if you’re not playing the strikers you have from the beginning. All this soaking up pressure malarkey instead of good attacking football and scaring the opposition. The same team played on Monday with even less success. Isn’t that a clue?

Michael: Same old story, can't take our chances. A reality check after last week's unlucky loss. On the bright side Brighton beat us 5-0 last time so a slight improvement. It is in attack we need strengthening. I am a bit concerned at the description of challenges as half-hearted. This early in the season?

    Brighton fans

Gordon: Roberto De Zerbi seems to find a way to cover holes and cement the team when some of our best players are sold, and they play just as well if not better. Unfortunately it can’t be said if De Zerbi decides to move on to a bigger club and takes his coaching staff with him. There are very few managers who have his ability.

Mick: A similar game to the previous week. Dunk and Webster looked very secure at the back. Gilmore very busy and effective. Mitoma, March and Enciso were almost unplayable at times. Took our foot off the gas at 4-0. Wolves looked dangerous at times but were wasteful. Still need a defensive midfielder. Onwards and upwards.

Sam: Two games in, eight goals scored and top of the league. This club never ceases to amaze! We could do with a holding midfield player as we do look a little open at times on the counter, however, Gilmour looked great and there are no words for Mitoma’s opener. Enciso was the best player on the pitch and we have such depth now! Just wow!

Steven: What a performance! After Wolves had a good game against Manchester United, I thought we might find this game tough. However, I was very wrong and this squad is showing their quality. What a start to what will be another great season.

  2. Brighton 'will punish you'published at 09:33 21 August

Alan Shearer was full of praise for Roberto De Zerbi's "ruthless" Brighton side after they beat Wolves 4-1 on Saturday.

After beating Luton Town by the same score line last week, Albion successfully replicated their commendable performance at Molineux.

Shearer told Match of the Day: "If you're not at it, this Brighton team will ruthlessly punish you.

"That's exactly what they did to Wolves. If you don't stay and run with your players they will punish you.

"They move the ball so quickly, they are exceptional at passing. They could've had more goals, they were brilliant."

  4. Wolves 1-4 Brighton: What De Zerbi saidpublished at 17:36 19 August

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi to BBC Sport: "I'm really pleased with the result and the performance. We played very well. We could play better, improve in our mentality, because we have a big target. To reach them you have tio play the same way for 90 minutes. We will reach that for sure.

"[Kaoru] Mitoma is a top player. [Solly] Match scored two goals, [Julio] Enciso was the best player on the pitch. I'm reallty lucky; I have an incredible squad, the right mix between young and old plasyers. We are happy but we know our potential is bigger.

"We have two players for every position. They will play for sure and be important for the team; they have a lot of chances.

"We are a very important team, with many big players. My work is to push them more and get better."

  5. Wolves 1-4 Brighton: Key statspublished at 17:29 19 August

    • Brighton have won their opening two matches in a top-flight season for only the second time, previously doing so in the 2021-22 campaign.

    • Wolves conceded four goals in their first home league match of a season for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign, when they lost 4-0 to Charlton Athletic in the Premier League.

    • Albion’s Kaoru Mitoma ended a run of 13 Premier League appearances without a goal, with his goal today his second in the Premier League against Wolves.

    • The Seagulls have scored in their last 15 away Premier League matches, their best league run since scoring in 16 in a row in League One between August 2009 and February 2010. It’s also the longest current run of any Premier League side and more than twice as long as anyone else (Spurs, 7 games).

    • Solly March has been involved in 15 goals in his last 19 Premier League starts for Brighton,, today netting only his second brace in the competition (also vs Liverpool in January).

  6. Analysis: Wolves 1-4 Brightonpublished at 17:24 19 August

    Matthew Howarth, BBC Sport

Before Saturday's game, Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi said his side were reaching "a higher level" despite the departures of Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo this summer.

It is hard to argue with the Italian's assessment after the Seagulls' latest devastating display of attacking football.

Kaoru Mitoma has been linked with a move away from the south coast, and his tremendous solo effort 15 minutes into the game will do little to deter his suitors.

The Japan international also had more touches inside the opposition box than any other player on the pitch.

Solly March delivered a sensational display in front of watching England manager Gareth Southgate, complimenting his well-taken double with nine ball recoveries and four interceptions - more than any of his team-mates.

There is room for improvement defensively but on this evidence, Brighton fans have plenty to be excited about this season.

  7. Full-time: Wolves 1-4 Brightonpublished at 17:08 19 August

A stunning solo goal from Kaoru Mitoma and a second-half double from Solly March helped Brighton cruise to victory at Wolves and make it two wins from two at the start of the Premier League season.

Mitoma collected Pervis Estupinan's pass near the halfway line, slalomed his way through a number of half-hearted challenges and beat the onrushing Jose Sa with a calm finish into the far corner.

The hosts were made to pay for their profligacy in a devastating nine-minute spell at the beginning of the second half, Estupinan doubling the visitors' lead with a low finish just 41 seconds after the restart.

March made it 3-0 with a first-time strike into the roof of the net - a finish that will no doubt have caught the eye of watching England manager Gareth Southgate.

Second-half substitute Hwang Hee-chan pulled one back for Wolves with a well-placed header, but it was scant consolation on a sobering afternoon for Gary O'Neil's side, who had Matheus Nunes sent off for a second bookable offence in added time.

  9. Sutton's predictions: Wolves v Brightonpublished at 11:14 19 August

Chris Sutton will be making predictions for all 380 Premier League matches again this season, against a variety of rivals. Next up is DJ, producer and Newcastle fan Anish Kumar.

    Sutton's Predictions with Anish Kumar

    Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Wolves were brilliant at Old Trafford on Monday but left with nothing to show for it.

It was an incredible decision not to award Gary O'Neil's side a penalty against Manchester United when Andre Onana fouled Sasa Kalajdzic near the end but, before then, Wolves had created enough chances to win, let alone take a point.

This game is really interesting because I watched Brighton last week and, although they thumped Luton and played well, going to Molineux is a much tougher test.

I think this one might come down to who takes their chances and, on that basis, I am backing the Seagulls.

Anish's prediction: Brighton under Roberto de Zerbi play football any other fan would be envious of with players like Kaoru Mitoma and Evan Ferguson. 1-3

  10. De Zerbi on Caicedo's replacement, Ferguson and squad availabilitypublished at 13:54 18 August

Roberto De Zerbi has been speaking to the media before Brighton's Premier League game against Wolves on Saturday.

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

    • On potential signings, he said: "We are working on a new midfielder, but I don’t know the situation. We have to adapt and play a different way, we are looking at different strategies because Moises [Caicedo] is a unique and top player. Without him we have to find the right balance."

    • On Evan Ferguson, he said: "Evan is another unique player in our team. He is very young, it’s difficult for me to decide the first XI, I have to put great players on the bench. But I think he has improved, he still hasn’t reached his full potential and can improve a lot."

    • The Italian provided an update on Albion's squad availability: "Everyone is good for Saturday's game, we don’t have a problem."

    • He added: "Tariq [Lamptey] will play for the Under-21s today so he can be in the best condition. In September the Europa League begins and we will need the full squad available, including Tariq."

    • On Saturday's opponents, he said: "Wolves played a fantastic game against Manchester United, they didn’t deserve to lose. We know well the coach of Wolves, we played against his team twice last season."

  11. Offiah agrees new deal and loan movepublished at 12:31 18 August

     Odel OffiahImage source, Getty Images

Brighton have confirmed Odel Offiah has signed a new contract with the club before joining Hearts on a season-long loan.

The defender has made five senior appearances for Albion since arriving from Bromley in 2017 after progressing through the academy sides.

His new deal runs until June 2025.

Technical director David Weir said: "Odel has been around the first team picture for a while now, but we want him to get regular minutes.

"It was great for us to have another academy graduate get their first taste of Premier League football last season, something Odel had earned and we’re looking forward to seeing how he adapts to this new challenge in Scotland. We wish him the best of luck for the season."

  12. Wolves v Brighton: Pick of the statspublished at 12:31 17 August

    • Wolves have lost their last three Premier League games against Brighton, having been unbeaten against the Seagulls in the previous six beforehand (W2 D4).

    • Brighton have won their first away league game in each of the last four seasons. Only two teams have ever done so in 5+ consecutive Premier League campaigns – Chelsea (5) between 2001-02 and 2005-06, and Manchester City (7) between 2014-15 and 2020-21.

    • Wolves haven't won their first home league game in any of their five seasons since their return to the Premier League in 2018 (D3 L2).

    • Brighton have only failed to score in one of their last 29 Premier League games, finding the net in each of their last 17.

    • Since Roberto De Zerbi's first game in charge in October 2022, Brighton's Premier League games have seen more goals scored than any other side (114 – F65 A49).

  13. 'Two to three wins on the bounce would be a great start'published at 11:58 16 August

    Solly MarchImage source, Getty Images

In the latest episode of BBC Radio Sussex's Albion Unlimited podcast, Solly March reflected on Brighton's 4-1 win over Luton and the Seagulls' upcoming fixtures.

He said: "It was a good start. We could've been better but in the first game of the season you want to get off with a running start, we did that so we have something to build on.

"People are already building partnerships on the pitch, getting used to each other and adjusting to the league.

"De Zerbi was saying that we wanted 20-30 shots and we shouldn't be settling for any less than that. We scored four goals and managed that, so we can take that going forward."

On Saturday's game against Wolves: "Every game in the Premier League is tough, there's never an easy fixture and everyone will be up for it.

"They'll make it hard for us. If we get another three points that would be great as we soon have a home game against West Ham, so need to build momentum.

"Two to three wins on the bounce would be a great start."

  14. 'Why don't clubs try to hijack Brighton's deals at source?'published at 08:34 16 August

    Transfer gossip daily podcast image

Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards says clubs should be trying to gazump Brighton's transfer model given its recent success, with interest in Argentina left-back Valentin Barco: "This guy is being viewed as one of the more exciting global football prospects, but not many will have seen him play. Brighton's recruitment model means you instantly have to give him credence.

"Everyone is bitter at Brighton buying cheap players and selling them for huge profits. They have done it better than anyone I can ever remember in the Premier League, yet still managed to progress as a club on the pitch.

"I wonder now whether the way to deal with Brighton's brilliance is to hijack these deals at source and try to gazump them as soon as rumours appear. After all, it will save them about £100m in two years' time!"
