    Your Views

We asked for your views on Sunday's game between West Ham and Chelsea.

Here are some of your comments:

    West Ham fans

Michael: No idea how we won that game. We hardly had the ball. But a huge positive attitude from the team. Very sweet that the two most expensive players in the Premier League handed us the game. Fernandez misses one for them and Caicedo gives away the winner for us. Antonio brilliant too.

Brenda: James Ward-Prowse will be a real asset for West Ham. So sad to see him go from Southampton, but has to move on with career.

Mike: That was hard. Chelsea were all over us for most of game, but we showed character and the second half played much better.

Steve: Unbelievable win for West Ham, great resilience especially when down to 10. We took our chances and defended incredibly well. This team are going to frustrate many teams in the Premier. Early days but both new signings looked good.

    Chelsea fans

Jason: Another difficult and disappointing season ahead, given we can’t even beat West Ham. We can already forget about top for. As soon as West Ham went 2-1 up it was all over with 30 mins left. Mudryk needs to be loaned out, no composure. Sterling is back to his best but the defence is getting worse.

Lewis: First half was good, second was awful. Too defensive in changes when they went down to 10. Need a creator in midfield and go back to 4-3-3. All the money we have spent and Enzo is not the answer to be a ball player.

Fossie: What a sorry affair! If you can't convert penalties you don't deserve to win. If you can tell me where £115m was spent, I would love know. What a waste on one player. No point having all that possession if you don't score. If Poch doesn't sort this out soon, he'll be gone.

Andy: Same old story of making chances and not converting them. Add to that the misery of missing a penalty. Sterling probably played his best game but players have to hold their hands up. We still need a goal machine up front. We need to knuckle down and play as we did after West Ham scored first, otherwise it's going to be a long season.

  2. 'The bigger picture is more important for Chelsea'published at 12:06 21 August

Mauricio Pochettino discusses tactics with Ben ChilwellImage source, Getty Images

This season is all about "perspective" for Chelsea as they continue to rebuild under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to London rivals West Ham on Sunday, despite their opponents going down to 10-men in the second half.

Discussing Chelsea's start to the season on BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast, football reporter for The Times Charlotte Duncker said: "I think the bigger picture is more important for Chelsea. You can see in the first two games what they are trying to do.

"I still think they need more players which sounds bonkers when you think how much money they have spent, but when you are bringing a 20-year-old off the bench when you are trying to win a game maybe you just need someone with a little more experience.

"Who is going to score them 25 goals? Sterling seems to be picking up his form, he's capable of doing that this year, he's done it before, can he do it for them? I think Pochettino is going to be disappointed but I think going forward this is just going to be a season of building for them to get them back on track to where they want to be.

"It depends what we're comparing them to this season, are we saying are they going to be challenging for the title this season? No, so what are we saying? Are they going to be challenging for top four? So I think it is all about perspective."

  3. 'There's no need to panic'published at 11:30 21 August

    Mauricio PochettinoImage source, Getty Images

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown showed concern for Chelsea on Match of the Day 2 after their defeat byWest Ham: "It’s five wins in their last 31 matches, They need to start scoring goals, I think it's 18 goals in their last 19 away games.

"If I’m a Chelsea fan, I want to see improvement and I’m wondering who’s my number nine, who’s going to be scoring the goals.

"They need to be more ruthless, 17 shots on goal but who’s putting them away?"

Former Tottenham winger Andros Townsend was more hopeful of Cheslea's future: "I worked under Pochettino at Spurs and of course he wants to win football matches, but he's a head coach, he puts greater importance on coaching his players in the early part of the season and hoping the fitness pays off at the end of the season."

"Yes he would like to win football matches, but there's no need to panic at this stage of the season."

  5. Analysis: West Ham 3-1 Chelseapublished at 21:18 20 August

    Michael Emons, BBC Sport

A bad day for Chelsea and it is now just one point from two matches since Mauricio Pochettino got the manager's job in the summer.

It was a terrible start with poor marking from a corner enabling Nayef Aguerd to head the hosts into the lead, before Carney Chukwuemeka got his first Chelsea goal to equalise, although he later went off with an injury.

Enzo Fernandez wasted a glorious chance to put the Blues ahead after the impressive Raheem Sterling was fouled in the penalty area, but Fernandez saw his spot-kick saved by Alphonse Areola.

That miss proved costly as West Ham regained their advantage early in the second half through Michail Antonio's goal, but the sending off of Aguerd for two bookable offences gave Chelsea a great chance to leave London Stadium with at least a point.

Pochettino will have been disappointed that his side could not capitalise on the man advantage with £100m signing Moises Caicedo making an unsure debut when coming on as a substitute.

He conceded the penalty in injury time, which was converted by Lucas Paqueta to seal West Ham's victory.

  6. 'We need to be more clinical'published at 19:41 20 August

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino speaking to MOTD: "West Ham, we knew they could play in this way.

"At the moment we need to be more clinical and score more goals when we create the chances."

On Moises Caicedo conceding a penalty: "It was a very negative impact to the team. We played well in the first half and then it was difficult in the second half, we didn't find the right way to play and we did change the shape.

"We were rushing the decisions and pushing decisions to make chances and that happens as the team is new - I am sure we will start winning games."

On Chelsea's reaction to the red card: "Played 20 minutes and we didn't create enough and we conceded a penalty. That is a bad feeling and I am disappointed that we cannot earn what we wanted.

"The Premier League is really competitive."

On Caicedo's performance: "He was telling us he was ready, I think 30 minutes is good for him, many positive things and he is maybe disappointed but we need to move on and he will be a good player for us.

"I cannot change my speech after Liverpool we needed to believe in the process and we need to keep being calm and that is the process."

  7. 'They took their chances and they deserve it'published at 19:31 20 August

    Raheem SterlingImage source, Getty Images

Chelsea's Raheem Sterling speaking to Sky Sports: "It is difficult one to take, the chances we created and dominating at an away ground.

"They took their chances and they deserve it in the end.

"Dominating a game at a ground like West Ham's you have got to take your chances, this is the Premier League and it will come back to haunt you.

"When that second goal went in it was a downer, as we have not taken our chances and they took theirs.

"It is stepping stones, we dominated the game and physically we are better, we just need to cut out some of the sloppy play."

On his recent form: "Difficult transition last year but I am raring to go, in the off-season I was looking to get back to the level I was at.

"When we start winning games it will start getting better.

"I am a player that needs to be driving and being aggressive and that's what I am going to do."

  8. West Ham 3-1 Chelsea: What Pochettino saidpublished at 19:24 20 August

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino to Sky Sports: "That's football. Teams like us, we need to get the right balance. I think today there were a few actions we didn't manage well and we concede. We create many chances and we did well in the first half. We should have won the game with our first half.

"In the second half with another isolated action we concede again. To find the space to create clear chances [is difficult] but overall it is this type of game that is difficult to explain. You had the possession, you create and maybe you were the better side but in the end you lose.

"It was the frustration when we miss the penalty. We were playing well and we didn't get the reward. We start the second half a little bit with this belief until we started again to play.

"Also the injury to Carney Chukwuemeka changed a little bit the shape of the team. Then we start again to dominate the game but again we concede. We need to be more strong in this type of situation because we knew West Ham sit deep and counter-attack and set-pieces are really dangerous.

"Disappointed but this is only the beginning. We need to believe in the process. I think we are going to be stronger and for sure be really competitive."

West Ham United claimed a rousing London derby win against big-spending Chelsea despite playing almost 30 minutes with only 10 men.

The Hammers were 2-1 ahead when defender Nayef Aguerd, who opened the scoring with a seventh-minute header, was sent off in the 67th minute for his second bookable offence.

But Chelsea could not force an equaliser and then conceded a late third through Lucas Paqueta's penalty in the fifth minute of added time.

Teenager Carney Chukwuemeka scored his first goal for the Blues to make it 1-1 but Enzo Fernandez wasted a chance to put them ahead when his penalty was saved by Alphonse Areola.

  11. Sutton's predictions: West Ham v Chelseapublished at 11:15 19 August

Chris Sutton will be making predictions for all 380 Premier League matches again this season, against a variety of rivals. Next up is DJ, producer and Newcastle fan Anish Kumar.

    Sutton's Predictions with Anish Kumar

    Sutton's prediction: 1-2

I really feel for West Ham boss David Moyes because of the way the Hammers have gone about their transfer business this summer. Now there is the possibility of losing Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City too, which hardly helps.

Chelsea were very good in the second half against Liverpool last weekend and they will be even better if Moises Caicedo goes straight into their team, to partner Enzo Fernandez in the centre of midfield.

You can see what Mauricio Pochettino is trying to do with Chelsea and they are a better team, with better players, than West Ham. Even though they are still fitting together as a team, that will be reflected in the result.

It's putting the ball in the net that I think could still be Chelsea's biggest problem, especially in the short-term. Nicolas Jackson looks lively up front, but can he step up with the goals they need?

West Ham will sit in and counter, but I am backing Chelsea to have a little bit too much quality.

Anish's prediction: Chelsea will be an interesting watch this year with so many comings and goings. West Ham have had a difficult transfer window, losing Declan Rice and struggling to bring in players. 0-2

  12. Pochettino on Lavia, Caicedo and James' injurypublished at 13:34 18 August

    Alex Howell, BBC Sport

Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media before Chelsea's match against West Ham on Sunday.

Here are the main lines from his news conference:

    • On new signing Romeo Lavia: "We all know him, his quality, his profile. I think it’s perfect player for this project. We are excited and so happy to have him in the squad."

    • On Moises Caicedo: "To add this type of player like Moises, Romeo and all these fantastic players signing. We need to congratulate the work of the club. It’s an amazing thing and a very exciting moment and project for the club."

    • On the news that Reece James will be out injured for a 'few weeks': " It’s a sad moment as he’s our captain and he was so excited to be a captain and was full of energy. We are going to assess him day by day and as soon as possible he will be with the team."

    • On attacking replacements: "I think all of the clubs are in the same market as us. At the same time we are keeping one or two or eyes on Armando Broja as we cannot forget him and stop him and bring in a profile of player that will stop his evolution. He can be a really important player for Chelsea."

    • Chelsea have let goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga join Real Madrid on loan and Pochettino was asked if the club will sign a new player in that position: "We are thinking on that. We are thinking that on all the situations and the possibilities on the market. The club is open and assesses all the options. We are exploring all the situations in the market and there is still not a decision."

    • On the match against West Ham: "They have very good team and they did a great job last season they lift a trophy. They are really confident and it will be a tough game."

    • Chelsea have agreed a deal with Newcastle for Lewis Hall and Pochettino says there's nothing to add at the moment.
